If you haven’t heard of it before, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s most iconic endurance hikes — and for good reason.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the challenge takes on a circular route that covers three major peaks:
⛰️ Whernside – the highest of the three at 736m
⛰️ Ingleborough – known for its flat summit and dramatic views
⛰️ Pen-y-Ghent – a steep, rugged climb to start the day
To complete the challenge, walkers must cover the entire 24.5-mile (39.27 km) route in under 12 hours, with a total elevation gain of over 1,600 metres. That’s the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis and then some — all in a single day!
It’s a serious test of endurance, stamina, and determination. Rocky paths, steep ascents, unpredictable weather, and sore feet are all part of the deal. But the sense of achievement at the finish line? Absolutely worth it.
Our team took it on with grit, teamwork, and no shortage of blisters
