Hands-On Keencut Training at Pyramid Display Materials

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Keencut team for a hands-on training session, giving our team the opportunity to learn more about some of their leading cutting solutions and see the machines in action.

The session provided a closer look at the features, capabilities and benefits of three key machines: the Keencut SteelTrak Cutter, Sabre Series 2 Cutter and Evolution3™ BenchTop.

As well as seeing how each machine operates, the training gave our team the chance to build their product knowledge, understand the different applications each cutter is suited to and gain a better appreciation of the features designed to make cutting faster, safer and more accurate.

Keencut SteelTrak Cutter

One of the main machines covered during the session was the Keencut SteelTrak, a heavy-duty vertical cutting system designed for sign making and high-production environments.

The SteelTrak is capable of cutting and finishing materials in a single action, helping to produce clean, accurate edges without the dust or scrapings associated with some traditional cutting methods. It can handle a variety of rigid and semi-rigid sheet materials and can also score and snap materials such as acrylic.

For sign makers working with aluminium composite materials, the SteelTrak is particularly versatile. It can cut ACM and, with the appropriate tooling, create V-grooves for applications such as sign trays, self-standing displays, boxes and exhibition structures. Its vertical design also makes efficient use of workshop space, while operation requires no electrical power.

The training gave our team a valuable opportunity to see first-hand how the machine is set up, how materials are positioned and how its features help achieve consistent and repeatable cuts.

Keencut Sabre Series 2 Cutter

We also took a closer look at the Keencut Sabre Series 2, a versatile general-purpose cutting solution suitable for a wide range of materials and working environments.

Designed to provide a straight, square cut, the Sabre Series 2 can accommodate materials up to 13mm thick and cutting widths of up to 3 metres, depending on the machine configuration. Keencut specifies an accuracy of 1mm, while its self-adjusting hinges help the cutter remain stable when working with materials of different thicknesses.

The Sabre Series 2 can be used across materials ranging from foamboard and paper through to textiles and acrylic, with different blade options available through its cutting head. Automatic blade retraction and full-length grip strips are also incorporated into the design to help with safe, controlled and accurate cutting.

Its flexibility makes it a particularly useful option for sign shops, print environments and workshops where operators need one cutter capable of handling a broad variety of everyday materials.

Keencut Evolution3™ BenchTop

Completing the training session was the Keencut Evolution3™ BenchTop, designed as a permanently installed cutting solution for busy studios and production environments.

A standout feature of the Evolution3 BenchTop is Keencut's Lift-and-Hover technology, which allows the cutting bar to be positioned just above the material while it is aligned. This enables the operator to accurately position the sheet before fully engaging the clamp and making the cut.

The Evolution3 system is designed to achieve accuracy to within 0.2mm over the length of the cut, while interchangeable QuikSwap tool heads allow the machine to be adapted for tasks including general cutting, scoring, creasing and fabric cutting.

With its standard Double Graphik cutting head, the Evolution3 can work with materials including vinyl, banner, cardboard, PVC foamboard, foam-centred board, corrugated plastic and paper, making it another highly adaptable solution for sign and display production.

Building Our Product Knowledge

Training sessions like this are a valuable opportunity for our team to get closer to the products and equipment used by our customers every day.

Being able to operate the machines, explore their different features and speak directly with the Keencut team gives us a better understanding of where each solution fits within a production environment. That knowledge ultimately helps us provide more informed advice and support when customers are considering equipment for their own business.

The session was also a great opportunity to compare the different strengths of the three machines, from the heavy-duty, space-saving SteelTrak, through to the versatile Sabre Series 2 and precision-focused Evolution3™ BenchTop.

A big thank you to Keencut for taking the time to visit us, demonstrate the equipment and share their expertise with our team. It was a thoroughly useful session and great to see the machines in action.
